Deuteronomy 8:18 (NKJV)
“And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Happy New Year, to a new you! Wow! I cannot believe that a week has passed already. It still feels surreal that 2016 flew by so quickly.
Seize the Moments
When I was in my pre-teen I lived with my grandmother for a few years. There was no electricity. No radio. No calendar. We slept shortly after nightfall and rose at day break. She had a daily routine which amused me. Before she started her chores, the first words from her mouth were always,
“A miggle day. Day dun!” (Translated in english. “It is mid-day. The day has ended.”)
I and Winston, my cousin, howled with laughter. Wisdom was lost. To the unlearn mind of a child it was funny. My grandmother was a simple woman. She farmed to feed us. On weekends she assisted a butcher. In exchange for her labor, he gave her the rejected parts of the cow’s meat. This became our meat. She seldom allowed anything to bother her. Her usual response to our laughter was, “Yuh yung, yuh wi learn (“you are young. You will learn”). She was illiterate but learnt. Life had taught her well. Every day she worked in tandem with nature. She learnt its rhythm and routines. The chirping of the birds, the gathering of the dark clouds, the dimming of the sun, the brilliant light of the moon and occasional circle around it and the sun communicated God’s signs of the seasons. Changes in the wind alerted her to the onset of rain. These signs assured her when it was time to prepare the soil and plant. Survival required that seed is in the ground before it rained. Without a seed there would be no harvest. No harvest meant there was no food (Ecclesiastes 11:1-11).
Now I understand. Her words were a daily reminder of the urgency of time. Every moment must be seized. Failure to acknowledge the laws of growth will cause us to remain frozen. Another year will pass without any change in our situation or circumstances. Action must be taken.
God wants us to prosper.
3 John 2
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Prosperity comes when we are about His and our business. To effectively complete our assignment. We must know what He has for us. As this year approached I sought Him to know what He has in store for His people. His words were simple. It was the same word I received for my life in October 2016, on the Jewish Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur.
“There is nothing new that I will say to My people. What I gave you is applicable to them. It continues to be a year of restoration. I will restore everything that was stolen for many of my people.”
The Lord begun to tell me about the losses sustained by the saints. The heart of God grieved for His people. He desired that we prosper. During 2016 the devil had distracted many of us. Our failure to remain focused cost us dearly. Many opportunities were lost. Networks that would move us into our destiny were not forged.
This year will be different. It will be a year of conquest for us. Many ministries will experience a revival. God will manifest the answers to years of continuous prayers. Revival will hit our finances, our health, our relationships, our career, our ministries and homes.
Year of Uncommon Favor
The Lord told Apostle Sheila O’Brien, Co-founder and Senior Co-Pastor of the Father’s Heart Christian Center, that this year will be a year of Uncommon Favor.
An examination of the formal of favor by Strong’s Concordance, is:
‘Grace or Good-will of the merciful kindness by which God, exerting his holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, keeps, strengthens, increases them in Christian faith, knowledge, affection, and kindles them to the exercise of the Christian virtues.’
In other words, you become the recipient of favor when you receive something to which you are not entitled. It may be as simple as a policeman overlooking your speeding with just a warning. With uncommon favor you will not only get a warning but he will help you to safely arrive at your destination. Hallelujah! Glory to God!
God is about to strengthen the saints with uncommon favor. Doors will be opened. Obstacles from 2016 will be conquered. Failures will become successes. Victory will be gained over bondages, addictions, issues and things that have kept us bound for years. We will see restoration of relationships and all that was lost.
